Other Matches from 1900
The 16th June 1900 Nottinghamshire Guardian contained two reports of other Volunteer Matches for which accounts have not so far been found in prior years.
The first match was the second Mason Competition which appears to have been an individual shoot for the Robin Hood Rifles various companies, the course of fire being ten shots to count at one (unstated) range. A further report can be found on a later page giving more details of the conduct of the Mason Competition. The first and fourth rounds have not yet been located.
The second match was the first round of the English Twenty Club's The Duke of York's Cup competition between the divisions of the English Twenty Club. This was for teams of ten. There was also a third match for an English Twenty Cup and a cash prize of £20 for teams of eight. Looking at the scores recorded it would seem that the two matches were shot concurrently but not all eight team members were in the corresponding ten man team.
2ND MASON COMPETITION
Unfortunately for the complete success of the 2nd Mason competition on the Trent Range on Monday the weather was of very mixed character, and the consequence was that those who fired in the early part of the day had by far the most favourable conditions. The light got very bad after four o'clock, and had not improved when the severe thunderstorm passed over about six, and it was not surprising therefore to find that several of the crack shots of the regiment failed to do themselves justice so far as cold figures are concerned. The following were the principal scores:–

ENGLISH TWENTY CLUB
Shooting in divisions five and six of the competition of the English Twenty Club for the Duke of York's Cup was conducted at the Trent Range on Saturday. The cup is competed for annually by teams of not less than ten members from each division of the English Twenty Club, the ranges, position, and general conditions being as in the first stage of the Queen's Prize, and is finally won by the division whose team first wins four times. The competition takes the form of a tournament between teams representing divisions, divisions 5 and 6 meeting in the first round. The districts included in division 5 are Norfolk, Cambridge, Essex, Lincoln, Notts., Derby, and Bedford; and division 6, Chester, Liverpool, Salop, North and West Stafford. at 200 and 500 yards, after the individual scores are completed, one point is deducted from the team total for each shot outside the inner. There was also a competition for a challenge cup, together with a prize of £20 given by the club, the conditions being as for the Duke of York's Cup, excepting that each team consist of eight men.
