This year's Imperial TR Meeting will be remembered for its very hot weather and the challenging, changeable wind conditions. On Monday 23rd July, the Meteorological Office issued an amber warning to stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm. It was even reported to be hot at the start of the 8.30am detail for the Times competition on that day. And so it continued through the whole week. On Friday 27th the second stage of the Queen's Prize was accompanied by thunder and lightening. Over-night rain arrived before the final Saturday and the wind was blustery and changeable for the St George's and Queen's Finals, requiring 9-15 minutes left wind on the sights at 900 yards.

Of the fourteen Nottinghamshire shooters listed in the Grand Aggregate, five made it into the top ten places of various competitions and aggregates. These were Mr TJ Bullock (7), Mr SJ Whitby (5), Mr RSF Shouler (5), Miss LE Kennedy (5) and Dr JC Jobling (1).

In the St George's Vase, eight Notts shooters made the second stage lead by Miss LE Kennedy on 74.10v. Three then reached the third stage: Mr D Lowe, Miss LE Kennedy, and Mr RSF Shouler who went on to win the Challenge Vase with a score of 148.21v

The same number (8) qualified for the second stage of H.M. Queen's Prize with Mr TJ Bullock leading the way with 105.15v. In the second stage the top score was made by Mr SJ Whitby with 150.13 (the only possible made) earning him the NRA Silver Medal and Silver Badge. He and Mr RSF Shouler (145.17) and Mr JPS Bloomfield (145.13) qualified for the third stage. This final shoot at 900 and 1000 yards took place in challenging conditions with 10-15 minutes wind at 900 yards and 16 minutes at 1000 yards so good scores were not easy to make. Spectators were treated to a tie shoot for second place. The winner of the Queen's Prize was Mr DJ Luckman, second on the tie break was Mr MCJ Button, and third was Mr P Patel. Our three finalists finished with Mr JPS Bloomfield (28th), Mr SJ Whitby (46th) and Mr RSF Shouler (69th).
