The Gresham Shield Match 2016
The annual Gresham Shield competition took place this year at the Beckingham range on Saturday 23rd July. NADVAS club secretary Jim Bookey invited interested parties to participate in this event via the Notts RA. The Mansfield Rifle and Pistol Club happily accepted the invitation and duly entered two teams as did NADVAS. Members of Langar Rifle Club also turned up on the day but did not enter the competition as they did not possess suitable rifles in order to enter but instead took the opportunity to practice with their 7.62 target rifles.
The weather on the day turned out to be excellent although it proved to be rather humid, which was less than comfortable for those wearing leather shooting jackets. The wind was hardly noticeable but steady. Distances for the competition were the usual 200 and 300 metres. Competitors were allowed three (convertible) sighters plus ten shots to count at each range. Despite the conditions, the general team points were down from previous years; but a good day out was had by all.
The course of fire was 3 sighters and 10 to count at 200m and 300m at standard NRA round bull targets.
The scores were as follows:
1st | NADVAS "A" | 270 |
2nd | NADVAS "B" | 209 |
3rd | Mansfield "A" | 181 |
4th | Mansfield "B" | 149 |
