Second Annual General Meeting of the Association

The Second Annual General Meeting of the Association was called on 4th March 1863 and a report appeared in the Nottinghamshire Guardian published on Friday 13th March

The Meeting appears to have been quite straight forward and quickly completed

The accounts show that the arrears due to the National Rifle Association were paid off and also the arrears of subscriptions and donations from the previous year almost entirely collected in. It also appears that a reserve fund of £100 was created in the year.

As no reports of the meetings of the Council have been found in the newspaper records, this AGM report is all we have at the moment from which to assess the progress of the Association; that is apart from the frequent reports of Volunteer activity from which glimpses of the Association can be had.

If we were able to locate the Minute Book of the Association from this time then the picture might be clearer. This book was known to have survived (but not in the hands of the current Association) up to some years ago; but its present whereabouts are unknown.

NOTTS. RIFLE ASSOCIATION

The Annual Meeting was held at the Orderly Room, Nottingham Castle, on March 4th, Captain Haddon in the chair.

The following motions were duly proposed and carried:–

"That the Balance Sheet be passed, and that it be printed and distributed to each member with a list of Donors and Subscribers."

"That the Vice-Presidents be re-elected, with the addition of the following:– His Grace the Duke of St. Albans, C. Paget, Esq., M.P.; and I C Wright, Esq."

"That Captain Storer, Lieut. Rawson, Captain Wright, and Captain Wagstaff be elected members of the Council, in the place of Captain Mason, Captain Parsons, Sir H. Bromley, and Captain Wilson, who retire."

It was announced that the next Prize Meeting will be held at the Nottingham Butts early in August.

Votes of thanks to the Chairman and the Hon. Secretary having been passed, the meeting separated.
