Proposed Ban on Lead Ammunition

It is time for all of us to act

We are currently in the middle of a six-month consultation on banning lead ammunition. We need everyone to act now to save our sport from a very serious threat.

Emails have been sent to all affiliated clubs to be distributed to all members.

Please read our explanatory document.
It will take you through the key points and then advise how to move forwards.

If you have any questions then please contact us using this link to Feedback to email us.

Chairman of Nottinghamshire Rifle Association

Additional Information

The consultation was announced in May 2022 and ends on 6 November 2022. It is being run by the Health and Safety Executive. They have prepared a dossier on the use of lead in ammunition and its environmental effects as an Annex 15 Restriction Report. There is an overview available at hse.gov.uk and links give access to the full Report including Annexes A-E. The Report is a 227 page pdf document and the Annexes a further 241 pages.

After you have read our explanatory document, you can go to the Consultation Document to submit your response. The explanatory document also contains this link.

Further information has been prepared by the NRA (use "SEARCH THE NRA" with "lead ban" to find relevant articles), the NSRA, and Field Sports. These links will take you to the relevant pages.

The NRA response to the consultation is due to be published within the next week.
